In this specific case the company is conducting a targeted search to identify an alternative to a currently used Nitinol hypo tube within a catheter application.
The goal is to achieve a price reduction versus Nitinol while maintaining close to Nitinols performance (interested in elastic modulus, percent elongation, and yield strength; no need for shape memory).
The alternative hypo tube could be made from any other suitable alloy, a new material (alloy), a combination of materials (multilayers), or\and a combination of innovative processing steps, for example grainsize reduction.
The company would expect the stage of the technology to be at or beyond proof of feasibility and preferably already be proven in commercial applications, not necessary medical. Therefore the company is looking for SMEs or technical research groups experienced in the field of the development of hypo tubes and/or new material and alloys. The company envisions a license agreement or a technical cooperation agreement.
The company targets a hypo tube with dimensions on the order of:
Inch: (0.006-0.024” ID), ( 0.015 – 0.035” OD), (.002-.006” wall thickness)
Meters: (0,1524 .. 0,6096 mm ID ) ,( 0,0381 .. 0,889 mm OD) ,(0,05- 0,15 mm wall thickness)
The hypo tube will be exposed to standard chemical exposure such as bodily fluids and contrast media.
The company is looking for SMEs or technical research groups experienced in the field of the development of hypotubes and/or new material and alloys.
