A UK based company active in the commodities sector is seeking suppliers of new and used equipment in the sugar production industry for manufacturing agreements. The equipment is for use in sugar refining and sugar cane processing. The equipment should be suitable for sugar cane processing at phase 1 and for a 4000MT processing capacity at phase 2.
A UK based company is searching for partners which can supply sugar refining and sugar cane processing equipment under a manufacturing agreement. The company is a ‘fast moving consumer goods’ (FMCG) company based out of London, UK. After working with big brands such as Kellogg’s, Mars and Jaguar Land Rover, and across the Middle East and east Africa, the company was well placed to grow from its well-regarded 40 years’ experience in FMCG, mid-size trade finance and logistics operations. In recent years the company has expanded into energy and physical commodities trading. The company recently reached an agreement, verified by a memorandum of understanding, for the establishment of a sugar refinery plant capable of processing a minimum of 4,000MT/day. The refinery should be configured for processing cane and is planned to be completely autonomous and integrated facility with its own power generation and supply. The cane processing has unique characteristics in that bagasse (waste of cane) can be used for power generation (combined heat and power cycle). Of particular interest are potential partners that bring along export trade finance which will be secured against sovereign guarantees.
Although sugar refinining and the equipment capable for this function has been highly internationalised in the last 20 years, European industrial equipment still leads in terms of quality and after sales support, albeit at a premium in price. The UK based company intends to capitalise on these qualities and establish a sugar refining plant in east Africa.
