Spanish technological SME specialised in automatic cleaning systems for ships is looking for a provider (manufacturing agreement) of a brushless sensorless outrunner DC motor to integrate into a robot for underwater cleaning of ship hulls.
Spanish IT SME is seeking for a motor provider that can process batches of no more than 100 units. The technology will be used to manufacture a robotic crawler that cleans a ship while navigating underwater.
The motor should be able to operate for several days underwater in salt water. Therefore, the motor should be built using corrosion resistant materials such as high-grade stainless steel and aluminium. The bearings should be either plastic or ceramic and, in both cases, no kind of lubricant but the sea water itself should be used.
The motor design should have an open design, in order to allow the seawater to flood it while cooling the motor and also lubricating the bearings.
The coils and magnets should be potted in marine grade epoxy to be ruggedized against salt water.
In relation to the cooperation type, the company is seeking to acquire the technology to build a new environment-friendly solution to improve their business performance, adapting the product to the specificities of its market (ships).
