This French company has developed a fun and ergonomic tool for children to cut all kinds of paper and plastic.
This new cutter is made for children enjoying creative leisure. Different from a pair of scissors, it allows the cutting of paper or thin plastics. Children from 3 years old can develop a great gestural freedom. The company is looking for distributors (toys, school supplies, creative leisure).
The French company conceived a novel cutter that is totally safe for children of any age.
The tool enables children to make cut-outs in paper or thin cardboard or plastic sheets. The rounded shape fits a child's hand perfectly: children who are too young to use scissors gracefully can execute cut-outs of any shape (no need to start at the edge) and without adult assistance. This makes that children can use this tool at home or in their art classes at school.
It is stable like a 3-legged stool so that the child can mainly focus on his actions. The tiny blade – no bigger than a grain of sand – is engineered to cut flat surfaces but not to cut skin. The center of balance ensures that the beak does not touch the surface of a table when not in used.
The blade cartridge is easy to change.
At the same time this tool helps develop children’s dexterity and encourages their natural movements since it goes in any direction at any time. This tool can be pushed or pulled in circles , spirals, zigzags or any combinations of movements. By comparison, scissors are used to cut, but remove any gestural spontaneity.
The creation of this new tool is the result of a collaboration with a teacher, who is a doctor in education sciences. Proficiency tests administered to primary school children led him to create this tool.
Keen now to expand into international markets and grow its sales, the company wishes to appoint distributors abroad.
The tool is very innovative since it offers possibilities no other cutter has provided yet. It has been developed in cooperation with a teacher as a result of studies made in primary schools and thus answers children specific needs:
- Security: children cannot cut themselves or others and cannot scratch furnitures.
- Ergonomy: the shape fits little hands. It can be used also by very little kids or children having motor function problems. The manipulation is quite easy contrary to scissors which need a constant pressure of the fingers
- Artistic performance: children can realise free cuts from the point they want to cut (they do not have to start from the edge of the paper). The cutting is more intuitive and natural than with scissors. The cutting of curves is also much easier since the tool follows all the user’s gestures.
One can have a look at the tool watching the pictures attached.
