A Danish designer of sustainable products is looking for a manufacturer who can make a moulded flammable charcoal briquette made from coconut shells and maize flour. The product is called custom charcoal briquettes made from coconut shells.
A small Danish entrepreneur is looking for a company which can manufacture a pressed form or briquette of coconut shell and maize flour, which can be burned. The briquettes should be pressed or moulded into a form that meets the following objectives:
130x90x20 millimeters (a solution using 4 pieces for the final product) or 130x180x20 millimeters (a solution using 2 pieces for the final product). The weight should be about 65 g. per. briquette in dried state containing 5% moisture (for the size 130x90x20 millimeter).
The briquette is to be wrapped in a thin bio film of approximately 14 microns thickness, and the briquette should be able to be lit by setting fire to the bio film. The wrapping should otherwise maintain its properties for at least two years.
Production volumes are expected to be around 1 million pieces in 2016.
The technology for making such briquettes is probably a machine that can press items in a special mould with high pressure.
The company has an attractive order portfolio waiting to be filled for any supplier able to produce the briquette to the required form.
The production is of relatively simple materials and is easy to transport.
The company is open to other suggestions regarding the manufacturing process and is flexible to selection of new materials.
The company believes that there are existing technologies for high pressure moulding of biomass but is open to other suggestions.
The client is looking for a manufacturer who can produce the charcoal briquettes into the required shape while maintaining the correct burning characteristics. The method is open to discussion.
