A Spanish research center has developed a platform to test the network architecture against Distributed Denial-of-Service attacks and check how much traffic a network can hold before network services are disrupted. The research center is looking for a license agreement.
A Spanish research center, specialized in enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises and society through applied research, innovation and knowledge transfer has developed a network and application stress service focused on running tests of Denial-of-Service attacks (DDoS) in a preventive and controlled manner.
A DDoS is an attack that exhausts the network resources of the attacked infrastructure, making it unavailable and therefore inaccessible. This preventive testing method enables the network manager to test the resilience of their infrastructure against this type of attacks and act accordingly to fix any found issues.
The client can choose a convenient time window to run a realistic and fake attack against their systems.
This test platform will show the client how their infrastructure [(anti-DDoS systems, firewalls, Intrusion Protection System (IPS), Web Application Firewalls (WAFs), balancers or web fronts)] responds to the following DDoS attacks:
• SYN flood
• SYN/ACK flood
• ACK/PUSH flood
• RST flood
• ICMP flood
• UDP flood
• DNS flood
• slowloris attack
• HTTP flood
• SSL flood
The Spanish research center is looking for a license agreement with partners from the finance, e-commerce, utilities industries where the partner will resell the software to their clients.
Nowadays, most of the infrastructure is prepared against DDoS attacks based on the knowledge of the IT team, written documentation and fixes when an attack on the infrastructure is launched.
This preventive platform is intended to test the client’s network infrastructure by scheduling real attacks in a controlled way and simulate different scenarios. This will enable the client to find the infrastructure weaknesses and determine the action plan to make it more reliable and robust.
The Spanish research center is looking for a license agreement with partners from the finance, e-commerce, utilities industries who can potentially support the client throughout the process, from designing the attack to be simulated to analysing the results.
