A Spanish research center has developed a biosignal monitoring wearable device. It is integrated into an undershirt and use dry textile electrodes for a better comfort of the user and a noise -free signal.It can monitor heart rate, respiratory signals, temperature and physical activity. Data is stored in an internal memory and can be transmitted to an external device by bluetooth. The Spanish research center developped a connected device integrated into an undershirt for long term monitoring of biosignals in unconstrained environments.
This device allows non-stop recording of a single channel electrocardiogram (ECG) signal by textile electrodes, full respiratory plethysmography signal by textile sensors, skin temperature in two locations (precisions of 0.1ºC) and physical activity through smartphone.
This undershirt is designed with light materials allowing good respiration.
It is able to record single-channel ECG signal, hearth rate and variability, chest and abdominal plethysmography signal, respiratory rate and variability, chest and underarm skin temperature, and 3D waist accelerometry.
The garment seamlessly integrates the set of sensors and electrodes that stay firmly hold in place and in direct contact with the skin for obtaining a low noise high quality signal.
All the areas in direct contact with the body are made from textile materials to ensure wearing comfort and full biocompatibility.
The device comes with a small electronic control unit (ECU) detachable from the undershirt which includes an internal memory and a real time clock for fully store all the acquired data. It also features a bluetooth 2.0 communications module for real time data transmission to any compatible external device.
This device have a minimum of 16 hours of battery autonomy in continuous operation.
The research center is interested in a technical cooperation agreement with a clinical partner (cardiologist, sports medicine) or end-user sport platforms to do the technology validation.
They are also interested in companies involved in design and commercialization of technological products for sports sector to transfer this technology by a licensing agreement.
This device is a comfortable solution for long term monitoring out of the care centres. The datas are reliable and can be easily forwarded to an external control unit.
The sensing elements use dry textile electrode technology so there is no need to use a skin conductivity gel, this allows to have a better quality signal than the products already on the market and to be more confortable for the user.

This device uses the last tecnologies about connected textile to provide an high quality motinoring service to the consumer. Even if the sensors and the electrodes are fully integrated into the textile, this device is washable.
