Sorry, this partnering opportunity is closed.
This UK SME is a designer of niche and low-volume electronic products and their related firmware. They are requesting a manufacturing and/or joint venture agreement to help increase their manufacturing capacity in Europe (using surface-mount & through-hole techniques). In the longer term helping source components that they may not have access to, and manufacturing products from components through to dispatch. They are looking for partners in Eastern Europe, France and Germany
This UK SME has been established for over 15 years, and specialises in the design and low volume production of various different types and applications of electronics and electronic components for a range of customers. These components form a variety of PCB's from electronic alarm monitoring devices, access control doors and air curtain control chips, to name a few.
As part of the design process, this company has the capacity to surface-mount a limited number of PCB's in-house with their own fabrication equipment, including for approval and testing.
This company generally designs for low volume products as it tends to concentrate on niche-markets and/or low volume requirements, meaning that large scale manufacture of, say, mobile phones is not something that they would do.
Their customers use their products in quite varied and different sectors of industry and commerce, with applications ranging from shop-doorway air heaters, water and sewage pumps, Hi-Fi audio, door access control systems and several others.
Alongside the design of these PCB's, the company also designs the software that is integral to the functioning of the product, and is not user-accessible (such software is called 'firmware') which means that their products can be more efficient due to the specifically designed and vertically integrated nature of the electronics and firmware as inefficient compatibility between the firmware & hardware can be reduced at the design stage.
This company is initially looking for partners to help raise production levels, as this company does not have the manufacturing capacity to meet demand. Ideally, a partnership would begin as a manufacturing agreement, so they can manufacture components for the finished products, freeing up resources for the company to focus on the designing of the products, and must have experience using surface-mount and through-hole techniques.
In the longer term there may be a need for a potential partner to handle the entire process - from component procurement through to manufacturing, testing and dispatch. This is partly as the company may not have access to the components that they require in order to complete the build and assembly given their limited size and resources, but also because it would be more efficient to concentrate manufacturing in a single location. This is why the manufacturing agreement and joint venture partnership types have been selected, as the former would ideally eventually lead to the latter.
The company is accredited to ISO9001-2015 standard.
- The vertically integrated nature of the software and hardware leads to increased efficiency of the products, giving them a competitive advantage as they are designed from the ground-up to work together, with no interfaces in-between reducing efficiency.
- The small nature of the company means that they are more flexible.
- They have an extensive history of designing electronics and software for various different applications, and can use that experience to make products more efficient (whether that be space, power, energy consumption, or all three) as seen in some of the images.
The company is seeking partners that have technical expertise in surface-mount and through-hole techniques for manufacturing PCB's.
Seeking a partner who can undertake electronic circuit (PCB) manufacture & assembly using surface-mount and through-hole techniques, with surface-mount being the most immediate need through a manufacturing agreement.
If the co-operation is successful, this could lead to the relationship developing in a way that the partner would cover the whole manufacturing process though to testing and dispatch, with our client focusing on the design of the products & firmware. This could be under a joint venture as well.
