A Dutch based foundry developed a technology to die cast moulds for high- and low-pressure injection moulding processes to realize (reinforced) plastic products. The moulds are made from a special bronze alloy, that offers a very high surface quality for moulds up to 10 square meter and more. The company is looking for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), plastic product convertors and mould makers to apply this new tooling technology in the frame of a manufacturing agreement.
A Dutch die-cast company with a good track-record in steel, stainless steel and non-ferro die-cast work, developed a special bronze alloy. They found out that this bronze alloy in combination with their casting technology, is very attractive for the manufacturing of plastic production moulds.
The moulds are manufactured by die-casting them, which is much faster and cheaper compared to machining metal blocks and realization of nickel shell moulds. And because of the manufacturing possibilities of this company, the moulds can have sizes from 1 up to 10 square meters in 1 piece.
The bronze alloy used for the moulds in combination with the casting technology results in a very high surface quality.
These two features make the mould very suitable for very large (composite) parts production with high surface quality, as is usually requested in the automotive, agricultural machines, maritime, construction machines and aircraft industry.
The company is able to supply complete moulds, but as well the cast mould halves (including heating/cooling lines). Collaboration with mould makers is sought in order to bring in the expertise of the mould design.
The company is looking for OEM’s that require large plastic and composite parts, convertors of plastic and composite products and mould makers (together these three represent the value chain), to offer this mould technology as qualitative and economic alternative for their current large mould.
The company is targeting at manufacturing agreements.
Currently, large production moulds with high surface quality are mostly manufactured by machining solid blocks of steel and aluminium, or with the Nickel-Shell technology. These are very costly moulds and subjected to limitations in terms of size.
The type of moulds offered by this company, is made with die-casting. This is a faster and therefore cheaper way of manufacturing for relatively big tooling sizes with excellent surface quality. Next to larger surface moulds up to 10 m2 for each mould half, heating/cooling lines can be integrated.
In addition, this technology offers more advantages:
- High reproducibility
- Homogeneous material
- Unique product properties
- High mould complexity
- Excellent machining features
- Easy repair
- High heat conductivity
- Excellent surface quality
- Good surface hardness
- Special surface treatments available for increased surface hardness
Field of activity:
- mould makers for plastic / composite injection moulding (high or low pressure)
- end users of large plastic or composite products
- manufacturers of large plastic or composite products
Role of partner:
purchase tooling in a cooperation in which technical demands can be exchanged
