The university is seeking research cooperation agreements to modify the filament for specific applications as well as offering commercial agreements with technical assistance.
A university from Latvia, specialised in technical sciences, has developed biodegradable filaments for 3D printing. They is made from bio polymers with additives to improve the filament properties. The filaments contains only non-toxic components. The printed products made from these filaments biologically degrades in humid soil within four months without forming toxic substances and soil pollution.
The biodegradable filament is designed for a wide range of desktop 3D printers used in universities, research centres, schools, business and industrial applications as well in homes for personal use. The filament is suitable for both professional printing jobs (product development, data visualization, rapid prototyping, small scale on-demand manufacturing) and household, leisure and entertainment.
