A French university research team has developed a new process for single step fabrication of intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFC) by type-casting. The university is looking for industrial partners requiring production of auxiliary power in their products (automotive, aerospace, electrical appliances) for a licensing agreement.
The present invention is a new process for single step fabrication
for IT-SOFC (500°C-700°C) by tape-casting. Classical slurries are taped with a new process which permits to co-sinter different elements in single step. This prevents cracks and ensures good adhesion between different elements of the cell which simplify production step.
This reduces conventional fabrication time and it is cost effective. Moreover, this technique can be scaled to large area cells fabrication without sintering aids, lamination and degassing.
Applications concern production of auxiliary power unit (like in mobile product for vehicle or goods) or electricity production for home appliances. This is of interest for European wide industries working in these sectors.
It has been developed by a French university team specialized in material research and sintering techniques.
