Croatian inventors from academic institution have developed solution which can be embedded in the ultrasound machines for the purpose of applying indirect method of estimation of water on the lung (pleural effusion) - wich is its main advantage. Ultrasound-based diagnosis of lung condition is limited compared to the examination of other organs, due to the specific body structure. Inventors are currently looking for partners interested in the product launch through licensing.
Croatian inventors have developed software solution which enables efficient usage of ultrasound technology for the purpose of applying indirect method of estimation of water on the lung (pleural effusion). The innovation facilitates diagnosis and enables monitoring of the effectiveness of prescribed drugs. With this, the unnecessary usage of more invasive methods of treatment is avoided.
Ultrasound-based diagnosis of lung condition is limited if compared to the examination of other organs, due to the specific body structure. B–lines are a diagnostic indicator for the condition of lung tissue in patients. B-lines appear on the monitor of the ultrasound device, varying in appearance, intensity and number. Due to this variability and slow movement of the human eye, it is difficult to count B-lines. Developed solution can determine objectively number of B-lines during examination of patient in real time.
Novel software solution should be adjusted for testing on partner’s equipment. The invention will present additional feature to the ultrasound devices for diagnosis of water on lung. This innovation can also bring attention on a product itself on the market because the use of less invasive methods in monitoring patient condition (after treatment for example) are implied as a result.
The inventors are currently looking for partners to acquiring the solution via licensing agreement, with or without technical support.
It is a functional, software solution that can be incorporated in existing ultrasound equipment. This new feature makes ultrasound examination more efficient in the field of diagnosis and treatment of patients with “wet lung” usually caused by cardiac failure.
This solution helps physicians make conclusion and decisions on therapy based on objectively determinate numbers. With this new feature, ultrasound machine can be helpful in diagnosis of lung conditions and it can lower the usage of more invasive methods during treatment of patients
Prototype is available for demonstration and it’s also in the stage of negotiations. In case of interest, it is suggested to express interest and start negotiation on short notice.
Inventors are looking for industry partners, producers of ultrasound devices for healthcare, interested in launching the innovative solution via licensing agreement.
Inventors offer a transfer of rights involving the invention, the use the software in return for a fee or share of royalties.
