General information

Short Summary
Located in Colombia, this family initiative produces agro-ecological vegetables through regenerative practices and promotes rural experiences that articulate sustainable agriculture with community-based tourism. It seeks cooperation in agro-tourism, sustainable development agreements and investment to strengthen rural climate resilience.
Full Description
In the southwest of Antioquia, in the municipality of Jericó (Colombia), an initiative led by young farmers, dedicated to agroecological food production through soil regeneration practices and respect for biodiversity, is being developed. Since 2018, the project combines family farming with training and community processes, aimed at strengthening rural roots and environmental care.
More than 70 varieties of fresh food, medicinal and aromatic plants, coffee and seedlings are grown on their farm, which encourage the creation of self-sufficient vegetable gardens. In addition, rural experiences are promoted where visitors and communities can actively participate in agricultural work, promoting peasant knowledge and interaction with agro-ecological practices such as the use of green manures, terraces for water conservation, and circular economy strategies.
This venture has been recognised by public and private entities as an exemplary case of green business and has received awards for its impact on rural growth and youth entrepreneurship. It is currently seeking cooperation in the form of agrotourism agreements, partnerships for sustainable rural development and investment to expand capacities and infrastructure, and thus consolidate its contribution to local climate resilience.
Advantages and Innovations
This project stands out for its territorial approach and its capacity to link agroecological production with educational and tourism experiences. Production is led by young people from the countryside, which guarantees generational renewal and the permanence of family farming.
Composting practices, the use of renewable energies and training processes aimed at young rural people are promoted, which gives added value in social and environmental terms. Through experiential tourism, peasant knowledge is articulated with cultural and educational initiatives, which offers potential partners a replicable model of agro-ecological tourism with a regenerative approach.
