It is the company’s mission to create tailor-made calibration solutions for instrumental analysis such as XRF, µXRF, LIBS, LA-ICP-MS and GD-MS. In its own research and production laboratory the company is able to create powder mixtures, mill coarse samples down the nm-scale and create suitable pressed powder pellets for all aforementioned analytical techniques. They have established collaborations with various research institutes, companies and universities globally.

The company’s expertise would be particularly valuable in the context of the Battery 2030+ initiative or the Horizon call CL4-INDUSTRY-2025-01-MATERIALS-61. As the analysis of so-called BlackMass is instrumental to calculate its value and the profitability of recycling it. Further, knowing the composition of battery raw materials can be used to cross-validate their performance.
The company is open to evaluating participation in other calls, when expertise and project goals align to support the successful development goals of the proposal.
The company's role in a project would be to support the consortium as a service provider with deep expertise in the development and production of certified reference materials (CRMs), particularly binder-free pressed powder pellets suitable for solid-state analysis techniques such as XRF, µXRF, LIBS, LA-ICP-MS, and GD-MS. While they do not possess BlackMass materials or expertise in battery recycling itself, they contribute a unique capability: the ability to create tailor-made calibration standards based on input and materials provided by the project partners.
While the role of the comony in the project would be a supporting contributor, they plan to disseminate the developed materials after project completion through their webshop, newsletter and homepage. The developed CRMs would be made commercially available, ensuring that the results of the collaboration are sustainable and accessible to the wider analytical community. - Advantages and Innovations

In the framework of a collaborative R&D project, the German company is looking for one or more partners who will lead the development and implementation of new approaches for BlackMass analysis or battery recycling. The expected role of the partner is to define the technical requirements, analytical goals and relevant material types for which reference materials will be needed.
The company relies on the partners to bring in application-specific knowledge, access to relevant sample types, and ideally, a broader industrial or academic network in the field of battery recycling. The partners are expected to guide the selection of target materials, analytical needs and usability of the developed standards.
In this cooperation, the partner(s) would take the leading role in project design, sample acquisition, and application testing. The German company on the other side would provide expertise in sample preparation (milling, mixing, pressing, freeze-drying), data validation (including ISO-compliant certification strategies), and production of customized CRMs.
