General information

Short Summary
A Bulgarian high school is an established English language high school with a 65-year history of delivering high-quality English language and general education. They are looking for partners for an Erasmus+ cooperation partnership in a school education project.
The project aims to build a shared online repository of interactive hypermedia teaching materials, exercises and tests in foreign languages for the STEM subjects, geography and entrepreneurship (STEM+G+E).
Full Description
The envisage STEM Repository will allow teachers to leverage the digital transformation to achieve higher levels of interactivity, student engagement, and continuous monitoring of individual student progress that will lead to outstanding improvement of student learning outcomes. The repository will be accessible through a website. Teachers from both initial and future partner institutions will be able to access the teaching materials from the website as they are or use them as building blocks of their own materials. From the website teachers will be able to send hypermedia teaching materials directly to students’ electronic devices, collect their responses and evaluate results. Initially, the online repository will feature teaching materials in English, but in future stages of the project it can be expanded with teaching materials in French, German, Italian and Spanish.
We welcome potential partners willing to collaborate with us in building and expanding this repository.

Content and language integrated learning (CLIL) is an approach fundamentally based on language immersion and content-based instruction, where content is learnt through an additional language, thus teaching at the same time both the subject content and the foreign language.
The teaching programmes in First English Language School, Sofia are based on the CLIL concept and this project will strengthen the educational strategy of the school and enable teachers in STEM subjects, geography and entrepreneurship to adopt more effective and innovative teaching methods.

Collaboration
We will collaborate with partners to create and share high-quality teaching materials. Materials will undergo a rigorous evaluation and peer-review process.

Supporting teachers
Teachers will utilize the repository to prepare assignments, exercises and tests with a fraction of the effort needed when creating them from scratch.

Integrating subject content and language learning
The project aims to create numerous listening comprehension and reading comprehension exercises based on STEM+G+E learning content testing and expand the language competence of students.

Hypermedia
Appealing imagery, sound and video materials will help to achieve higher student engagement and will make the learning process more gratifying for students.

Interactivity
Students will be able to browse their assignments on smartphones, tablets, laptops or any other personal computer device. Student progress and responses will be monitored in real time. Students will receive online notification for assignments, deadlines or newly available materials.
Advantages and Innovations
Collaboration - teachers can learn from one another and help each other directly or indirectly.
Improved productivity of teachers - teachers will prepare their teaching materials for a fraction of the effort needed to design and create them from scratch.
Improved quality of teaching - continuous feedback on student progress and performance will help teachers adapt and react in a flexible way.
Easier communication with students - Teaching materials/exercises/tests/quizzes are delivered directly to student phones/tablets/laptops or to an interactive display board by teacher’s command. Students engage in the exercises individually, in groups or as a whole class. Delivery, scheduling and grading of tests or exercises can be automated.
Better chance for teachers to engage in innovative teaching methods.
Preparing students to pursue higher education in STEM+G+E disciplines in a foreign language - improved language proficiency of students in the domain terminology of sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics, geography and entrepreneurship will make it easier for students to study their desired discipline abroad.
Self-driven learning - students will have a chance to browse additional learning materials at their discretion.
Transdisciplinary connections - repository will support establishing associations between related teaching materials for different subjects.
