A self-funded Dutch company from Rotterdam has developed a solution that helps organizations verify whether a business email really came from the person it claims to be from. The solution works with Microsoft 365, can be deployed across an organization in around 10 minutes, and requires no changes to how employees use Outlook. Microsoft Teams is currently being tested, with Gmail and Slack planned next.
Email fraud remains one of the costliest forms of business crime. Messages appear to come from colleagues, directors, suppliers, or business partners and request payments, confidential information, or urgent approvals. Existing email security can verify that a message came from the correct organization’s email system, but it cannot reliably prove that the individual using that mailbox is the legitimate sender. As a result, if an attacker gains access to a genuine email account, the message will technically appear completely legitimate.
The solution approaches this differently. Once an employee is protected, every email they send carries secure proof that it genuinely came from them and that the message has not been altered. When recipients open the email in Outlook, they immediately see whether it can be trusted before deciding how to respond. Employees continue using Outlook as they normally would; the only difference is that they immediately know whether the sender can be trusted.
If an email claims to come from a protected person but cannot be verified, it is clearly identified as suspicious.
For example, if a supplier’s email account has been compromised, the email may genuinely come from the supplier while containing fraudulent payment instructions. Instead of leaving the employee to decide whether the email can be trusted, the solution immediately identifies the communication as high risk, making it clear that the request should be independently verified before any action is taken.
Similarly, an attacker may gain access to a director’s email account and request confidential information, an urgent approval, or sensitive company documents. Although the email comes from the director’s real mailbox, the solution immediately identifies the communication as high risk.
The solution protects both the sender’s identity and the integrity of the message. Any modification after an email has been sent invalidates the verification. Every verification is logged for audit purposes, and the solution can be deployed entirely within the European Union.
The solution has been tested end-to-end and is now being implemented to its first commercial customers ahead of a broader market rollout. The company is looking for early commercial customers, Microsoft partners, managed service providers (MSPs), managed security service providers (MSSPs), and cybersecurity partners interested in introducing the solution to their customers.
