General information

Short Summary
The company was founded in 2019. As the only mechanical textile recycler in northern Europe, the company produces recycled textile fibers from B2B end-of-life textiles.The recycled textile fibers can be used in various nonwoven products, for example using airlay or needlepunch technology.The company is looking for companies interested in reducing their environmental impact by using recycled textile fibers as raw material in their products.
Full Description
The company offers mechanical recycling services to the B2B-sector and from these materials the company produces recycled textile fibers for manufacturers wanting to use recycled material in their own products. The company’s current capacity is about 11 000 tons per year, with focus on growth. The company builds value chains and networks to find solutions for the recycled textile fiber and enable the transition from a linear to a circular business model. Customers are interested in developing sustainable solutions and products, using less virgin raw material, and consequently reducing their carbon footprint.

The company has large incoming streams of B2B end-of-life textiles, with forecastable amounts and material composition. The company can trace the origin of the textiles back to the source and be sure the material is safe to use, for example in terms of chemicals used in the fabric. The company can do color sorting based on the incoming material streams. For continuous demand the recycled textile fiber composition can be developed together with the customer, to fit the need and production method of the company. The company produces nonwoven, spinning and short fiber and has the expertise to adjust and develop the material and fiber composition. The company can support the customer with advice and support the change from virgin to recycled raw material. The company also provides LCA calculations for the recycled textile fibers.

The company is looking for new customers and partners interested in developing and using recycled textile fiber in their products and production primarily in Europe. The company is especially interested in finding customers producing with airlay technology, but also customers using needlepunch or other nonwovens technology.
Advantages and Innovations
As the company is specialized in recycling of B2B textiles, there are major benefits in using the company’s recycled textile fiber as raw material:

- known material sources and material composition;
- materials are traceable;
- possible chemicals in the material are known and documented (REACH-compatibility);
- forecastable streams for continuous demand;
- colour sorted material possible;
- bio-based fire retardancy treatment of the fiber.

The company’s recycled textile fiber is GRS certified.

With virgin polyester being by far the most common raw material in nonwovens (est. 450 kT in 2021), the industry has the challenge to become more sustainable and use alternative raw materials. Usage of recycled polyester from rPET plastic bottles in nonwovens (est. 250 kT in 2021), is a short-sighted alternative, as coming directives aim to keep increasingly more of this material in the food packaging industry. With these changes, recycled textile fiber is one solution to reduce the environmental impact of nonwovens. The companies who are ready to develop their products to use recycled textile fiber will have a competitive advantage as legislation comes into force and the streams of the currently used raw materials become scarcer.
