General information

Short Summary
The company based in North of France draws upon the skills of a multidisciplinary team (50% biologists/biochemists and 50% bioinformaticians) to provide expertise in genomics, microbiota analysis and conception of molecular diagnosis tool for agricultural market. They are looking to join EU research and development project consortium that is submitting a project proposal to be funded under Horizon Europe in the field of agro-nutrition.
Full Description
A French biotech private company, based in north of France which operates in the agricultural, food and environmental sectors.
Spin-off of a leader European player in animal genetics and reproduction, the company’s core business is built around 3 pillars:
1) Genotyping and high-throughput sequencing;
2) Microbiota analysis;
3) Development of molecular diagnostic tools (ELISA-Multiplex) for the agricultural market.

High-throughput sequencing technologies have become fairly widely available, especially since the widespread interest in studying microbiota in general. However, standardization of all processes, from sample collection to data analysis, is essential to obtain interpretable results. The biotech company draws upon the skills of a multidisciplinary team (50% biotechnicians and 50% bioinformaticians) and knowledge of the field to give sense to the customer’s data. The analysis and interpretation solutions are tailored-made to meet the needs of customers. For an interactive and ergonomic interpretation of the results, the company developed a unique tailor-made visualization tool gathering the data about the sequencing quality, alpha and beta-diversities, composition, microbiota signature, functional analysis, … Through this “custom” intervention, they facilitate and accelerate the concrete use of the biological data.
-For this expertise, they would like to offer their services as a service provider.

Many diagnostics are based on ELISA assay, which is an efficient technique but implies to coat 1 antigen/per well. In the case of several antigens to test, the Multiplex-ELISA appears to be cost effective (faster and lowering the quantity of buffers used) and reduces the use of plastic. Indeed, in 1 multiplex-ELISA well, 96 antigens can be spotted, which correspond to 1 ELISA Plate. The company has already developed several Multiplex-ELISA diagnostic tools and their expertise in the technique could be an asset for future partners who are whiling to develop a novel diagnostic tool dedicated to the agricultural market.
- For this expertise, they would like to offer their services as a service provider or co-developer.
Advantages and Innovations
The strength for microbiota results in their comprehensive expertise from the collection of biological samples to the exploitation of analyses, thanks to their multidisciplinary team (Biologists/biochemists and bioinformaticians). The tools were first developed for internal needs.
The team developed a visualization tool that facilitates the analysis of sequencing data and gives ready to use graphical representations enabling direct interpretation. They offer a tailor-made solution to customer’s microbiota analyses.

For the Multiplex-ELISA, the French biotech company can capitalize on the different diagnostic tools they developed and their knowledge on the agricultural market.
