French national center for biomimicry, organized as a nonprofit cooperative bringing together over 100 members, including academic institutions, public agencies, companies, NGOs, and experts. For over a decade, the biomimicry center has supported the emergence of sustainable, high-performing, and disruptive solutions inspired by nature, across all scales—from product design to resilient territorial planning.
With more than 200 bio-inspired projects delivered, they works at the intersection of innovation, research, education, and ecosystem building. Its activities are structured around four strategic pillars:
1. developing bio-inspired design,
2. advancing biomimicry methodologies,
3. training and policy advocacy,
4. and catalyzing the national and international biomimicry community
Experience in collaboratives projects : they leads a public-private platform at national level, and have been partners or scientific board members into 4 European projects.
Exemples of expertises in European project :
- co-led a thematic working group on regenerative design for architecture
- participation to reflections on bio-inspired infrastructure
- bridge between research and industry, particularly in the manufacturing and eco-design sectors
contribution to educationnal program ( biomimicry methodology,
- bio-inspired design tools and toolbox for teachers)
In 2025 they are targeting the Horizon-NEB-2025-01 calls, thanks to its expertise in ecosystem-level biomimicry and regenerative design
- A validated qualitative framework to assess regenerative impacts of buildings and urban interventions, developed through a dedicated PhD project.
- Ongoing development of a scientific, quantitative evaluation method to measure regenerative performance, aligned with ecological indicators and ecosystem services.
- Proven experience in regenerative territorial planning, integrating biodiversity, ecosystem functions, and circularity principles.
- Close collaboration with a french Research-Action-Transmission collective focused on bio-inspired territorial transformations.
- Strong interdisciplinary capabilities combining biology, ecology, landscape ecology, biogeography, regenerative hydrology, architecture, urban planning, collaborative dynamics, engineering, and data science.
- Operational capacity to mobilize a wide network of stakeholders (industry, academia, public authorities) and coordinate transdisciplinary innovation projects.
- Leadership in national and international standardization efforts on biomimicry (ISO), ensuring alignment with emerging regulatory frameworks.
- Active involvement in sectoral working group that address regenerative urbanism and nature-based solutions.
- Two experts trained at the Regenesis Institute for Regenerative Practice, and a close relation to its ecosystem of seasoned experts.
