General information
- Short Summary
-
The young Germany company is specialized in climate neutral transformation of the heating sector. It accompanies municipalities in strategic heat planning and supports energy suppliers with data-based technical and economic decision-making for the transformation of district heating towards net zero.
The company is looking for municipalities, district energy operators, universities, NGOs and communication agencies with interest in strategic energy planning to transform the local heat supply. - Full Description
-
The company is located in the northeast of Germany and is specialized in heat and cooling planning for municipalities and transformation planning for district energy to decarbonize the heating sector. Moreover the company experts assist energy suppliers and large-scale heat consumers with technical and economic feasibility studies for district energy, thermal energy storage and climate-friendly heating technologies implementation, e.g. large heat pumps, waste heat utilization, geothermal and solar thermal systems.
In Germany is heat planning legally obliged to municipalities in order to provide a fundamental basis for the area-wide transformation of a municipalities current heat supply towards net zero.
During the past five years Theta has accompanied more than 35 municipalities with populations between 1,400 and 620,000 in strategic heat and combined heat and cooling planning. Besides, we have assisted district heating operators with grids between 10 km and 400 km greater in strategic decision-making with regard to introduction of renewables and decarbonization of district energy.
The company provides broad expertise in strategic energy planning for an entire municipality, a region, a district or a single energy network. This includes stakeholder analysis, communication, data acquisition, (GIS) data handling, building a digital twin for municipalities or district heating networks, energy system modelling, scenario analysis and technical as well as economic evaluation to support decision-making and to derive measures for implementation.
The German company is looking for:
• Municipalities with interest in strategic energy planning (mainly heat and cooling) to transition energy supply towards net zero
• District energy operators with interest in implementation of renewables and storage technologies
• NGOs, communication agencies, universities to start heat planning, feasibility studies or research projects in the field of climate-neutral heat supply. - Advantages and Innovations
-
The company experts providing knowledge and well proven expertise for data-based decision-making in terms of climate-neutral heat supply in an early process stage.
The GIS-based digital twin allows for an area-wide technical as well as economic evaluation of renewable heat supply for an entire municipality on the building or a block level. This methodology has been developed and refined during heat planning for more than 35 German municipalities of various sizes and complexities. The digital twin operates on a broad data basis and is capable of handling data from various sources and of varying accuracy. The company can provide digital twins for nearly every location.
The company also provides an energy system modelling methodology to analyze and optimize the interplay of renewable heat generation, storage utilization and district grid operation under given conditions. The experts can investigate and optimize the technical and economic performance of a renewable portfolio (and intermediates) in the annual course of an existing district energy network on an hourly, or even finer basis. This approach has been widely used to derive no regret measures by scenario analysis for multiple district energy networks. - Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
