General information

Short Summary
A German SME with expertise in energy efficiency and environment technologies has developed a new method for the eco-friendly treatment of industrial flue gases, removing Nox, Sox and at the same time producing clean water, capturing CO2, recovering heat and energy from exhaust gases. The SME is looking for an investor or a technological cooperation with an industrial partner for the design and implementation of a pilot plant.
Full Description
A German SME specializing in energy efficiency and environmental technologies has developed an advanced flue gas cleaning process utilizing biological materials for simultaneous heat recovery, water recovery and the separation of nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur oxides (SOx), and greenhouse gases. Unlike traditional methods, which are energy- and water-intensive, this innovative technology offers a highly efficient and sustainable solution for industrial applications.

Key Features & Advantages of the Technology:
• Complete removal of SOx and NOx through cryogenic adsorption
• Heat loss recovery from exhaust gases and conversion into electricity
• No additional water consumption; instead, the process generates large amounts of clean water
• Significant reduction in cooling water usage and cooling tower size
• Efficient removal of dust and heavy metals
• Minimized energy consumption, limited to less than 2%
• Captures a high percentage of CO2 through physical adsorption
• Byproduct: High-quality sulfuric acid production

Project status & existing partnership:
The technology has already been successfully tested in the laboratory, and the SME has partnered with VDZ (Verein Deutscher Zementwerke) to further advance the project. The next step is to validate the technology in an industrial pilot plant.

The SME is now seeking an additional industrial partner or investor to support the development of the pilot plant, with estimated project costs of € 600k to € 1 million.

The SME is interested in various types of cooperation including joint ventures, co-development agreements and direct investment as well as licensing agreements.
Advantages and Innovations
Competing Technologies:

1. SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction)
- Removes NOx from exhaust gas
- Efficiency: up to 70%
- High costs due to expensive catalysts
2. SNCR (Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction)
- Removes NOx from exhaust gas
- Efficiency: up to 50%
- High energy consumption
3. FGD (Flue Gas Desulfurization)
- Removes SO₂ from exhaust gas
-Requires large amounts of water
- Produces raw gypsum as a byproduct
4. CO₂ Capture via Amine Technology
- Removes CO₂ from exhaust gas
- Requires high energy input

Advantages of the SME's solution:

• SOx and NOx removal efficiency: 99.9%
- Converts pollutants into nitric acid
- Adsorption material is regenerated, reducing operating costs
- Produces high-quality sulfuric acid
• Energy recovery from exhaust gases
- Waste heat is converted into usable energy
• Water-efficient process
- No additional water consumption
- Generates clean water as a byproduct (Efficiency: 99.9%)
• Low energy consumption for CO₂ capture
- Efficiency: 75%
- Adsorption material is regenerated
- Captured CO₂ is pure and can be used for storage or E-Fuel production
Stage of Development
  • Lab tested
Sustainable Development Goals
  • Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
  • Goal 13: Climate Action
