The Italian company with a long experience in designing and producing digital cameras for scientific and industrial applications, has manufactured a smart camera with integrated processing power and AI acceleration.
The camera is natively oriented toward the astronomic research market but is fully open to cover any specific requirement for a wide set of scientific and industrial market applications.
The Company’s development team has a background of more than 25 years of experience in PCB (printed circuit board) and FPGA design (Field Programmable Gate Array), quality management, in embedded SW, operating systems and graphical interfaces and more than 10 years in mechanical design.
These skills together with the agile SME structure provide the capability to offer specific design services, ranging from standard camera modifications to brand new projects involving specific sensors/mechanics.
The camera works on industrial ambient temperature range (-40°C +85°C) and consists of three modules (Detector + Controller + High Computing Blocks) that can be simply stacked one another to implement the required system.
It has a squared base of 96 mm x 96 mm, while its height is 127 mm with the HCB and 79 mm without the HCB. The Detector Block has a vacuum proof chamber and through an air valve, it is possible to either remove air from it or fill it with inert gas like Argon or Krypton.
The company is looking for:
1) Commercial agreement with technical assistance with partners interested in purchasing the camera turnkey with or without specific customizations.
2) Research and development cooperation agreement with partners that are developing innovative research designs using company expertises in the field of smart digital cameras. In this case the camera/cameras development could be part of a larger research project.
Furthermore the company is looking for partners interested in designing new systems including smart digital cameras. In this case the camera will incorporate specific customizations and the partner could be involved in the design of part of it: mechanics, applicative SW, Optical section, etc.. - Advantages and Innovations

The two main innovative features of the camera are: modularity and smartness.
Modularity: this camera consist in separate modules that can be properly stacked in order to implement a wide range of configurations to meet specific requirements for different industrial and scientific applications. The camera is based on the following main modules:
• Detector Block: with the CMOS sensor (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor ) and cooling
• Control Block: with the sensor interface/control FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and the DDR4 modules for image temporary storing
• High Computing Block: with the processor modules, the Solid-State Drive modules and the AI accelerator modules
The camera modular architecture approach allows to:
• use different CMOS sensors selected among a wide range of supported parts
• do the image processing either directly on camera or on an external PC
• choose the most suitable High Computing Block microprocessor, different peripheral resources and memory types/sizes, with or without the DDR4, SSD, AI modules.
Smartness: When the camera integrates the High Computing Block it acts as smart device, providing the stand-alone on camera capability of managing image acquisition, processing (also with AI acceleration) and storing without the direct assistance of an external PC. - Stage of Development
