An Italian company has developed an innovative bio-based polymer compound, obtained through its patented process that blends recycled plastics, wood scraps, and natural additives. This sustainable material is used as an alternative to conventional plastics in various industrial sectors with high material consumption.
Wood scraps sourced from the timber and carpentry industry are processed into wood flour, which represents a key raw material for the company’s compounding process. The wood flour currently features a granulometry between 180 and 200 µm, which places it within the category of potentially explosive dusts, thus requiring additional safety and handling measures.
To optimise internal production, enhance safety, and facilitate storage, transportation, and feeding into downstream polymer compounding equipment, the company aims to compact the wood flour into a stable, manageable, and safe form—while preserving its chemical-physical properties and granulometry.
The company is therefore looking for technology providers or manufacturers of compacting machinery capable of processing fine wood flour and of delivering consistent and safe compaction results without altering the functional characteristics required for subsequent polymer blending.
