General information

Short Summary
Croatian family-owned company with over 1,500 years of salt-making tradition produces certified organic, hand-harvested sea salt and over 220 salt-based products in a traditional and environmentally responsible way. The company is present on several international markets and seeks long-term distributors for high-quality food and HoReCa sectors.
Full Description
This Croatian family-owned company, located in the historic town of Nin (Zadar County, Dalmatia), produces certified organic, hand-harvested sea salt and more than 220 salt-based products in a traditional and environmentally responsible way. With a history of salt production spanning over 1,500 years, dating back to Roman times, the company combines heritage, craftsmanship, and sustainability to create high-quality natural products for both retail and industrial use.
The company’s main products include various types of sea salt (fine, coarse, and premium “flower of salt”), spiced and flavored salts, aromatherapy and cosmetic products, delicacies such as chocolates, cookies, and olive oils, as well as souvenirs and gift packages. For bulk and industrial customers, they supply table salt, food industry salt, road salt, swimming pool salt, and salt for the cosmetics industry.
Production is entirely natural and eco-friendly. Seawater is guided into the salt pans in spring, where it naturally evaporates through the combined action of the sun and wind. The salt then crystallizes and is harvested by hand using traditional wooden tools, without industrial machinery or chemical treatments. As a result, the salt remains unrefined, mineral-rich, and additive-free, maintaining the authenticity and nutritional value of its natural composition.
The Nin salt pans cover approximately 55 hectares within a protected lagoon surrounded by five Croatian national parks. This unique natural setting, free from heavy industry and intensive agriculture, ensures the purity of the sea and air, directly contributing to the superior quality of the salt. The company holds EU-recognized organic certification (BIO), confirming full compliance with European standards for sustainable and environmentally friendly production.
In addition to salt production, the company has successfully integrated tourism and education into its business model. It operates a Salt Museum, organizes educational tours, and offers the unique “Salt Worker for a Day” experience, where visitors can participate in traditional salt harvesting. These activities strengthen brand visibility and create strong connections between the company’s products, heritage, and the local community.
The company is already present on several international markets, including Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Austria, and Japan, and is seeking new distribution partners.
Ideal partners are distributors active in high-quality food markets, organic product sectors, gourmet retail chains, and HoReCa channels (hotels, restaurants, catering). The company is open to long-term cooperation under a distribution agreement and offers flexibility in product customization, private labeling, and export logistics.
