General information

Short Summary
A UK company has rolled out wayfinding and crowd monitoring solutions in England and Wales that allow both highly individual journey planning in stations and underground, but also insight to the operators regarding the safety and convenience of their passengers. Technical partners with capabilities of scanning and digitisation are sought to jointly pursue public or other procurement, for commercial agreements with technical assistance.
Full Description
Public transport providers have a duty of care to people around accessibility and safety. Topping that, they would like to make navigating busy train and other stations more pleasant for everybody. This has proven quite complex technically as any solution needs to understand with great accuracy where the passengers are.
A UK company has been implementing indoor navigation solutions for many years. Their key advantage is locating any person or object of interest with a 1-metre accuracy even in underground.
This platform later allowed to add virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) applications to illustrate in an easy way what can be found around the passenger. See the phone screen below. They are already making lives easier for both disabled, vulnerable and ordinary people.
The platform was then integrated with video feeds in stations. Upon installing the solution in a few different locations in England and Wales, the authorities realised the value of the metadata. Every station is different. The data now gives them insight into footfall, traffic flow, hotspots, safety and maintenance issues and so on.
The UK company is now seeking partners across the network to jointly respond to public tenders around passenger safety and comfort. They are also open to commercial opportunities to offer largely similar solutions in any large venue. The local company needs to have capabilities of lidar scanning and building digital twins. The UK company will offer assistance with rolling out infrastructure solutions and all the digital solutions.
Advantages and Innovations
Due to a proprietary hardware setup and data integration, the UK company has best-in-market accuracy.
This in turn allows to offer VR and AR solutions that have resulted in excellent traveller convenience.
