General information

Short Summary
A Swedish company specialising in veterinary radiology and radiation safety is seeking manufacturers of customised foam positioning products for diagnostic X-ray examinations of animals. The required products include wedges, cylinders, half-cylinders and rectangular blocks. The company seeks long-term manufacturing and supply cooperation based on existing drawings and specifications.
Full Description
A Swedish company specialising in veterinary radiology, radiation safety and product development is seeking manufacturing partners for foam positioning products used during diagnostic X-ray examinations of animals.

The products are used to support accurate and stable positioning of dogs, cats and rabbits during radiography. They are intended to help reduce the need for veterinary personnel to manually hold animals during X-ray exposure and thereby support safer working methods.

The company is seeking manufacturers able to produce wedges in different sizes and angles, cylinders, half-cylinders, rectangular positioning blocks and other similar customised foam shapes. The products have already been developed and are commercially available. The required drawings, dimensions and product specifications are available, so the manufacturing partner is not expected to undertake the initial product development.

The products are placed underneath or adjacent to the animal during diagnostic X-ray examinations. They therefore need to provide stable support, retain their shape during repeated professional use and have a smooth, non-absorbent surface suitable for cleaning and disinfection. Since some products may be positioned within the X-ray field, the material must also be suitable for diagnostic radiography and must not introduce unacceptable radiographic artefacts.

The company is seeking a long-term manufacturing relationship to support continued and increasing production for the Swedish and wider European market. The cooperation is envisaged primarily as an outsourcing agreement, under which the selected manufacturer produces the products according to the company's drawings and specifications. A supplier agreement is also sought to establish recurring supply following approval of samples and agreement on specifications, quality requirements and production arrangements.
Advantages and Innovations
- The positioning products are specifically designed for veterinary radiography and provide stable support for dogs, cats and rabbits during X-ray examinations.
- Different geometries, angles and sizes allow positioning support to be adapted to different anatomical regions and radiographic projections.
- Lightweight foam construction makes the products practical for repeated use in veterinary clinical environments.
- Closed, smooth and non-absorbent surfaces can support repeated cleaning and disinfection.
- The products are already developed and commercially available, allowing a manufacturing partner to start from established drawings and specifications rather than developing a new product from scratch.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
The partner should have experience in technical foam conversion, moulded foam products, computer numerical control foam manufacturing or comparable manufacturing processes.

The required material should provide sufficient firmness and support for positioning animals, have a high degree of scratch resistance and retain its shape during repeated professional use. It should have a closed-cell structure and/or a closed, smooth and non-absorbent outer surface that tolerates repeated wiping, wet cleaning and disinfection.

The material should have consistent and homogeneous properties and be free from inclusions that could cause radiographic artefacts. Potential materials include polyethylene foam, ethylene-vinyl acetate foam, polyurethane foam with a closed or integral surface, or materials with equivalent properties.

The manufacturer should be able to produce consistent geometrical forms, including specified wedge angles, cylinders, half-cylinders and rectangular blocks. Suitable production methods may include cutting, computer numerical control cutting, computer numerical control milling, moulding or equivalent processes.

The partner should preferably be able to provide material samples and/or prototype products before serial production. Samples will be evaluated for dimensions and shape, firmness and stability, durability and surface properties, cleanability, liquid resistance and radiographic suitability. The Swedish company will test proposed materials for radiolucency and suitability for diagnostic X-ray examinations before final approval.

Following approval, the manufacturer should be able to maintain consistent product quality and support recurring production and increasing volumes.

Partner Sought

Expected Role of a Partner
The company is seeking a manufacturer or contract manufacturer with relevant experience in technical foam products, foam conversion, moulded foam products, computer numerical control foam manufacturing or similar products. Experience in medical, rehabilitation, veterinary or other professional positioning products would be advantageous but is not essential.

The partner is expected to manufacture one or more of the required product categories according to drawings, dimensions and specifications supplied by the Swedish company. The partner should be able to provide material samples and/or prototypes for evaluation, make any agreed production adjustments and, following approval, manufacture the products consistently according to the agreed specifications.

The preferred cooperation is a long-term outsourcing agreement combined with a supplier agreement for recurring production and supply. The company is open to working with one manufacturer covering several product categories or with separate manufacturers for different product types.
