General information

Short Summary
A UK company specialises in hygienic liquid product recovery (pigging) technology, offering custom-designed equipment, control software, and commissioning services. Its solutions are used across multiple industries, from food and personal care to chemicals and industrial lubricants.

The company is seeking commercial engagement with northern European businesses in Belgium, Holland, Poland, and Germany in need of their services.
Full Description
The UK Company established in 1995, with several thousand pigging system installations throughout the world. Clients range from household names such as Coca-Cola, Procter and Gamble, and Unilever, to smaller, local liquid processing companies.

Pigging technology originated in the oil and gas industry. However, one of the founders of HPS took the basic concept and adapted it for use in hygienic and process industries to recover product, rather than letting it go to waste.

Pigging systems work by propelling a specialist projectile (the Pig), through pipelines. The pig has an interference fit with the inside diameter of the line, and the company offers a solution which recovers 99.5% plus of product from full lines – saving significant amounts of product during batch changeovers.

The typical payback for a customer when implementing the technology is around 12 months, cost of ownership is low, so the Return on investment is usually extremely high, with the technology saving its clients tens of thousands, sometimes hundreds of thousands and occasionally even millions of £/$/€ every year – year-on-year.

The primary benefits of the technology are:
• Increased yields and better margins
• Reduced waste and less production downtime
• Increased plant capacity
• Faster changeovers using less resources
• Lower water and energy consumption
• Less use of CIP chemicals and cleaning agents
• Reduced effluent and effluent treatment and disposal
• Minimised contamination and cross-contamination risks
• Higher profits, productivity and efficiency
• Reduced carbon footprint and improved sustainability

Companies benefit most from the technology when they have one or more of the following issues:
• High product cost
• Multiple batch changeovers
• Contamination or cross-contamination risks
• Long pipeline lengths or diameters
• Excessive water usage
• High cleaning agent usage
• High waste disposal costs
• Want to lower their carbon footprint
• Effluent restrictions
• Environmental targets
• Product solidification or sedimentation risks – chocolate, confectionery, battery fluids, chemicals
• Product Aeration and Foaming Problems

Their head office and plant is UK based with sales offices in the USA and Australia.

Whilst it sells worldwide, its reach into nearby Europe is limited – with a small number of clients in France, Portugal, Greece and Bulgaria. It therefore aims to improve market penetration in countries such as Ireland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and more.
Advantages and Innovations
This UK company offers a fully automated pigging solution that is safe, fast, and highly efficient, requiring minimal operator intervention. Its proprietary pig design achieves industry-leading product recovery rates of over 99.5%, even around challenging 1.5D pipeline bends, thanks to its interference fit and full-body contact with the line.

Unlike conventional pigs with fins or complex profiles, this design avoids product buildup and reduces the risk of structural failure. Its flexible magnetic core enables reliable detection and automation while eliminating the risks associated with solid magnets or magnetic powders, ensuring line integrity and hygiene.

Made from FDA-approved materials and suitable for a wide range of hygienic applications—including food, beverages, personal care, paints, and chemicals—the pigs are available in diameters from 1.5 to 8 inches. They are bi-directional, steam-cleanable to 250°C, and only require removal for inspection or replacement.

Additional innovations include:
• Specially designed launch housings for minimal handling
• Advanced pig detection systems with visual indicators and automation software
• Multiple pig configurations (single, double, dual) to address product-air interaction, foam prevention, and cleaning fluid optimization
• Collaboration with Bardiani to develop the max yield valve, reducing dead space and product hold-up
