General information
- Short Summary
- The main objective of this Era-net project proposal (ICT-AGRI-FOOD 2024 call) is to develop a comprehensive software tool that leverages digitalization and artificial intelligence to enhance the performance and management of agrovoltaic systems —a synergistic combination of photovoltaic power generation and agricultural production— To advance this project, a Spanish technology company is seeking a partner from Belgium, Ireland or Latvia, with specialized expertise in agronomy.
- Full Description
-
With the challenges posed by climate change, the agricultural sector faces significant pressures to adapt and become more sustainable. Water management technologies will be one of the key technologies for future agricultural systems.
Integrating agrovoltaic systems—a combination of photovoltaic power generation and agricultural production—presents a promising solution. However, the complexity of these systems require sophisticated management strategies to optimize both energy production and agricultural yield. The project aims to develop a comprehensive software tool that leverages digitalization and artificial intelligence to enhance the performance and management of agrovoltaic systems. This tool will support farmers, agronomists, and energy managers in making data-driven decisions that improve system efficiency and sustainability.
The project will collaborate with agricultural research institutions, renewable energy specialists, and technology developers to ensure a multidisciplinary approach in the tool's development.
This project proposal will be submitted under the Era-net cofund ICT-AGRI-FOOD 2024 call. Topic 3 - Smart decision-making and reflection systems in farming. The consortia is now made by the Spanish company and a german research institute. They are looking for an entity from Belgium, Ireland or Latvia, specialised in irrigation systems or agronomy with proven experience in the development and implementation of advanced solutions for efficient water management in agriculture, especially in environments including agro-photovoltaics systems. The ability to integrate digital technologies and simulation models into software tools for smart decision making in the agricultural sector will be an asset.
The duration of the project will be 36 months.
The deadline for submitting expression of interest is 14th May. - Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
