Summary

Summary:
A Dutch construction company active in renovation of social housings wants to build and insulate in a more circular way. The company is looking for partners that offer insulation systems for apartments, which can be disassembled and reused. It aims to set up a project to co-develop and apply an outer wall insulation system within the framework of a commercial agreement with technical assistance or a technical cooperation agreement. This profile refers to an open innovation platform.

Description

Description:

Within the Dutch energy transition, there is a big challenge to insulate existing apartment buildings. In line with the urge to save energy there is also a strong trend in the Dutch social housing sector to enable reuse of construction materials, building in a more circular way.

To prevent floor space loss of the often small social housing apartments, additional insulation is usually applied to the outer wall. Conventional outer wall insulation systems are attached using adhesives. This makes them difficult to remove and disassemble at the end-of-life. Resulting in a mixed waste that is impossible to reuse.

The construction company has a large network in the Dutch social housing sector and is already a pioneer in the development and application of circular construction methods. However in the field of circular outer wall insulation systems it misses solutions. Though the company is open to insulation systems with different finishes, a mineral brick slip finish is most promising for the Dutch situation.

Therefore the company is looking for partners to co-develop and/or supply one or more concepts of circular outer wall insulation systems and facade cladding systems suitable for the Dutch social housing sector. Cooperation is foreseen within the framework of a commercial agreement with technical assistance or a technical cooperation agreement.

IMPORTANT: This technology request refers to an innovation challenge published on an open internet platform. If an organisation expresses interest before the closing date, it will be guided to this open innovation platform. After registration participants can browse free through other submissions and engage in discussions. All submissions will get feedback by the company on this open platform. The challenge closes on February 15th, 2021. Mind that posts on this platform are not confidential. Besides open discussions on the platform, sharing of confidential information will be made possible on demand. After that, the firm will select the organisations that will be invited to discuss cooperation possibilities. Once the challenge is closed, expressions of interest will be treated in the traditional way.
