Team of Latvian engineers and medical experts has developed a non-expensive automated lung ventilator that can be used during COVID-19 pandemic. Purpose of design is to provide simplified but functional model that would help medics to save lives of patients with short-term respiratory failure. Device design is based on use of manual resuscitator bag. Compression of it is done by electromechanical actuator with microcomputer control. Ventilator incorporates necessary sensors for adaptive and safe operation according requirements of EU and Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency - MHRA (UK) to medical devices.
