A Dutch department store active in the field of household articles, textiles, clothing and food, wants to contribute to the global aim to reduce waste streams and emissions. The company wants to explore innovative ways for the take back system for return flows of empty packaging, especially the small size polyethylene bottles, used for water and other drinks.The company is looking for sustainable solutions and offers a supplier agreement.



A department store based in The Netherlands that made its appearance in the begin of the 20th century offers a wide range of consumer goods in different areas of the store. In one of these areas beverages and food are offered.

The company is aware of its role world's global business community, and wants to contribute to the issue on sustainability:global resources are decreasing and carbondioxide emissions are rising. It is also the case that legislation will soon come into force to ensure that small polyethylene bottles and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles will be charged with deposits.

A solution could be to use a take back system, such as a sorting machine. This method is a proven solution for larger size bottles. Introducing a sorting machines / take back system in all their stores would mean a substantial investment and additional handling for the employees.

For the described situation the department store wants to solve the question: How can we offer our customers refreshing beverages with the level of convenience customers expect, in a more sustainable way.
The department store is looking for partners that can help them with smart, sustainable, innovative and convenient new ways of offering their range of beverages, currently packaged in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles to its clients. The department store is willing to offer a supplier agreement, but they are open for discussing other forms of cooperation agreements.
