Plating, also known as electrodeposition, is a process where a thin layer of metal is deposited on the surface of a work piece referred to as a substrate.

Plating is one of the last steps in the semiconductor or semiconductor like manufacturing processes and holds an important role as protective shell and interactive layer between the substrate with its internal circuits and the outside world.

The Dutch company offers a number of different plating solutions with different materials that can be deposited, such as copper, nickel, tin, gold, silver and palladium. Most installed plating processes are:
• Lead frame plating. A lead frame is a thin layer of metal frame to which semiconductors are attached during the package assembly process.
• Connector plating for a wide variety of connectors, products and finishes.
• Solar plating for solar cell manufacturing.
• Film and foil plating for a large variety of applications including radio frequency identification (RFID) smart labels and tags.

The Dutch company complement the supply of plating processes with all required process chemistry, hardware, accessories, installation, training, production start-up, quality control and service needs.
The company installed more than 800 plating machines around the world, mostly in Asia.
Most important end-user market segments are semicon, solar panel, automotive and aviation industries with components that are manufactured in mass-production volumes.
