Xylitol is a natural sweetener which is prepared from hemicellulose of plants. Xylitol is nature's own sweetener and it has the sweetness and the taste as normal sugar. Low glycaemic index makes xylitol a better alternative than normal sugar for people having diabetes. Dental benefits of xylitol were recognized for the first time in Finland in the 1970's. The usage of xylitol has been shown to reduce tooth decay and to improve gum health.
The Finnish company produces xylitol pastilles, chewing gum, dry mouth pastilles and toothpaste. All the company's xylitol products are manufactured in Finland. All ingredients in formulations are suitable for vegans and are non-GMO (genetically modified organism).
- The xylitol pastilles are produced in many different flavours, including berry powders and spruce sprout from Finland. Each pastille contains 800mg of xylitol. Calcium phosphate is added to improve remineralization of tooth enamel. Calcium and phosphorus are vital in the formation and maintenance of healthy teeth. Colourants are not used; all colours are from Finnish wild berry powders.
- Xylitol toothpaste contains 30 %-w. of xylitol, betula alba juice from Finland, 1450 ppm of fluoride, calcium phosphate, cellulose gum, polydextrose and a preservative. Thickener used is polydextrose which has a good mouthfeel, viscosity and it has prebiotic properties. Toothpaste does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate and has a mild mint aroma. It has been developed especially for people having a sensitive or dry mouth. All ingredients are non-GMO, halal and kosher quality.
- Dry mouth xylitol pastilles contain 750mg of xylitol, malic acid, betaine, calcium phosphate and carbonate to relieve dry mouth symptoms and to remineralize tooth enamel.
The company is currently doing small business into Central Europe and Asia. To increase their international sales, the company is looking for distributors, who would take the company's xylitol products into their offering. The partnership is considered to be in the form of a distribution agreement.
