The Bulgarian research organization has a lot of experience in the field of chemical kinetics and catalysis. The researchers have a huge expertise in the field of theoretical and applied catalysis. The research team offers a new product, named photocatalytic air purifier located inside of the circular channel. The innovative element of the photocatalytic air purifier is the use of circular UV lamp, located inside a circular channel. The main competitor is a Japanese company where the photocatalytic air cleaner uses a straight-line cylinder-form lamps leaving dark zones between the lamps and on both sides of the lamps – the light utilization is not complete – fraction of the light is wasted.
The prototype of a photocatalytic air purifier is intended for closed premises up to 40 m3, ensuring 6-times air recirculation through the prototype within an hour. It is based on the commercially available photocatalytic material TiO2 (Degussa P25), modified with an additive, which allows combining the filtering of cigarette smoke particulate matter and photocatalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds in closed laboratory premises, using organic solvents polluting the air in the laboratory at temperature interval 10-500 C and relative humidity of the air 15-95%.
A ventilator fan is mounted in the middle, sucking polluted air from aside and ejecting clean air from the center upwards. A gas sensor is mounted at the outlet.
The sought partnership is a manufacturing agreement. The client would like to start manufacturing this product. The partner sought could be a manufacturing company in carbon field and sensor electronics. The client would like to establish a research cooperation for more investigation and huge testing of the prototype in certified laboratories.

The innovative element of the photocatalytic air purifier is the use of circular UV lamp, located inside a circular channel having all the filter walls (upper, lower, left, right) impregnated with a photocatalytic material. The advantage of using a circular lamp / circular channel construction is that all the photons, irradiated by the lamp, reach the film of photocatalytic material. The main advantage is the use of cheap active carbon (AC) additive to TiO2 Degussa P25 in comparison to using expensive noble metal clusters Au, Ag, Pt, Pd deposited on TiO2, for the charge separation (separation of photoexcited electrons (AC) from the positively charged holes (TiO2) preventing the recombination and increasing the photonic efficiency of TiO2 at lower production expenses.
