The company is a Japan-based high precision photolithography manufacturer established in 1976. They are specialized in making tools used for the manufacturing of electronic devices. The company digitizes or edits their customers’ circuit designs and is capable of putting very precise patterns onto the substrates by exposing the photoresist to a laser beam. Their customers operate in manufacturing sectors such as: semiconductors, advanced packaging, touch panels, Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), and optics.

Since their establishment the company has expanded its business into America, China, Taiwan, and South East Asia. They now want to expand their market to include the EU. They have four manufacturing sites operating 24/7 which allows customers to contact them at any time and makes it possible to ship out products very rapidly.

Depending on the customer’s product making process, the Japanese company can offer three types of substrate for exposure:

- Quartz (fused silica) or soda lime substrate with chrome coating
- Soda lime substrate with emulsion
- Film substrate with emulsion

For glass substrates use, the company offers a surface coating technology which improves contact and proximity printing. This coating technology is effective in preventing unwanted photoresist sticking to the substrate during exposure and reduces the need to clean the substrates as often which increase the overall yield rate.

The Japanese company has the following advantages with regards to their technology and capabilities in the substrate exposure field: - The company can apply a very precise pattern with tight tolerance onto substrates of an area up to 800 millimetres with patterns sized down to 1µm or less. This is very precise compared to competition. - They can achieve a high resolution at low costs for emulsion glass substrates. Through their exposure they can achieve results as small as 10 nanometres. The company is capable of providing more precision on their patterns than any competitor (See Figure 1). - The company operates 24/7 and therefore has a comparatively quick turnaround time (shipping out next day at the earliest after the design data is fracture-ready). - Their Surface Coating Technology provides results superior to that of competition (please see details below & figure 2, 3). In comparison to other providers in the market, the company surface coating technology is excellent in terms of release characteristics. This consequently helps to reduce defects caused by unwanted photoresist sticking to the glass substrate during the exposure process. More details on the Surface Coating Technology: - Resin used: fluororesin (for chrome glass) and silicon resin (for emulsion glass) - Coating thickness: 10 nanometres (fluororesin type) / 2-3µm (Silicone type) - Light transmittance: 95% or greater corresponding to 365 nanometres wavelength (spectrophotometer) - Resistance to UV exposure: no decrease in transmittance at exposures up to 15,000 J/cm² (on 365nm) - Adhesion: grid peel 100/100 (cellophane peeling) - Water resistance: no change to coating (60-minute immersion in purified water) - Solvent resistance: ethanol/ Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) / Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) / Acetone >No change (after 60-minute immersion in chemical) - Water repellence: contact angle 100 degrees or more (contact angle tester)
