Description: 

A Korean company specialized in developing, designing, producing and maintenance work of solar power system is looking for a partner to cooperate under a license agreement and commercial agreement with technical assistance.

The company’s self-developed 2nd generation PV system (Rotation Floating Solar Power System) is an upgraded version of its 1st generation system. The Rotation Floating Solar Power System rotates to increase the daily development time (sunshine duration/sunshine hours). The new system applies a chemical plastic structure which is stronger but lighter than the traditional steel one. In addition, the upper buoyant part is upgraded to be smaller but more stable.

The installation cost is 7-10 percent higher than the traditional standard type, but the cost can be easily offset in a short term since the operational efficiency of the rotating system is improved by 10 to 15 percent compared to the fixed system. By using a single small motor which is less than 5 hoursepower to rotate a 5MW(megawatts) x4 (305m diameter) large float, makes the system a highly economically-efficient system while the maintenance cost is under 100 dollars per month.

In addition, using HDPE (High-density polyethylene) material for the buoyant body is more durable compared to traditional PE (Polyethylene) injection type and FRP (Fiber-reinforced plastic) type. The HDPE is very resistant to waves, winds and etc. The new material structure is 4.2 times lighter than the existing PosMAC (a ternary alloy coated steel with high corrosion resistance) and GFRP (Glass-fiber reinforced plastic) material structure, 1.1 times stronger and more resistant to shock, and UV and etc. In addition, the new material structure is designed for easy adjustment according to seasonal inclining angles to improve power generation efficiency. Furthermore, the patent-pending, X-shaped mooring design is more stable with a high surface-utilization rate than the traditional mooring method.

The Rotation Floating Solar Power System is an eco-friendly photovoltaic power generation system that utilizes idle sleep without damaging forests and encroaching on protected farmland. Being installed in lakes and rivers, it restricts solar incidence in water, reducing the amount of water evaporation and conserving freshwater by preventing from the water temperature rise. The temperature difference caused by equipment shading is helpful for water convection and green algae prevention, thus the water quality can be improved while using the system.

The company now is looking for technology-transfer or licensing partners for its rotation floating solar power system.

With a high strength-to-density ratio, HDPE is used in the production of plastic bottles, corrosion-resistant piping, geomembranes, and plastic lumber. 5. Applying the X-type mooring system decreases the movement of the whole floating PV (Photovoltaic) system compared to the traditional mooring method. But the vertical movement which depends on the water level is still free and stable.
