The Italian manufacturing company, established in 1933 in Northern Italy, is active in the paper industry with a focus on customizable eco-friendly creative paper and circular economy.

The Italian company is specialized in superficial treatments of paper and board for luxury packaging. The superficial treatment is aimed at giving visual and tactile effect to paper (such as color, brilliance, soft touch, etc). The finish is given through air knife coating. Coatings are made with: binding agents, charges, pigments and additives. Binding agents used so far are acrylic based, of petrochemical derivation, not biodegradable.

The company is looking for a new technology able to substitute the current binders with biodegradable binders, decreasing thus the environmental impact.
The technology sought is a replacement of acrylic resin in paper coating. Ideally, the new product should a biodegradable biopolymer applicable by air knife technology.

The air knife technology or knife coating is a process where an excess of coating material is applied to the substrate and removed by a metering blade to achieve the desired coating thickness.

The potential partner could be a company or a research centre able to provide the sought technology through a technology cooperation agreement or commercial agreement with technical assistance
