Safety, operability and durability of many industrial processes as well as hot, steam and cooling water cycle systems rely on a consistant water quality, in particular on predetermined water hardness values. Already minor deviations can cause damages to plants and equipment through calcification and corrosion and can also affect downstream processes.
An innovative German technology company develops, manufactures and sells analytical, monitoring and control systems for water softening plants. Within this scope, the company has developed a novel product range based on specific ion-selective sensors for applications, where process water hardness is crucial to the uninterrupted functioning of the entire industrial process.
The ion-selective sensor system with integrated self-control functions measures water hardness values automatically and permanently (including flow rate surveillance), and continuously evaluates them against pre-determined critical limits. Deviations or exceedance of such pre-determined critical values can be detected immediately. Combined with the automatic control of the softening process (deionisation / ion exchange rate / automatic regeneration of the softener after full depletion) a failure-free operation and, thus, an optimised operation of the respective softener process is guaranteed. The novel water hardness sensor system with WiFi-function provides real-time information to the user and can communicate via app.
Ultimately, with the innovative, ion-selective water hardness monitoring not only cost savings of water, chemicals and energy are achieved, but also damages due to calcification and corrosion can be avoided. At the same time, operation and process reliability of down-stream processes and systems are preserved and become more sustainable. The proposed water hardness monitoring is very simple and flexibly usable by app control.
In addition to the core function, other substances and contaminations can be detected, monitored and controlled e.g. heavy metals, nitrate or others.
Main advantage compared to existing solutions is the direct / real-time online water hardness measuring combined with immediate fault detection and subsequent adjustment and optimisation of the softening process. Also, self-monitoring of all sensor functions, WiFi and app communication are novel features.
The company seeks manufacturers, operators or distribution partners with an interest in analytical app solutions for water softening plants and devices. Technical cooperation (further (joint) product development) or commercial agreements with technical assistance (installation/system integration and technical support by the technology proposer) are envisaged.
