This Portuguese based family company established in 1986 (in the Azores) is specialized in manufacturing, processing, preserving and packaging food products, as well as wholesale trade. Products are free from preservatives or pesticides.
Company's assortment includes: pumpkins;multi-flower honey; safflower (made from safflower flowers); different types of chili pepper (salted, in vinegar, minced, in olive oil, in brine and sauce); lupins.
Multi-flower honey is a “complete” honey because it is obtained from the nectar of several plant species, combining their therapeutic power. That is why it is richer in vitamins and minerals than single-flower honey. It has a bactericidal effect and is often incorporated in combating anaemia and allergies. Frequent consumption aids in heart, stomach and intestinal ailments, boosts the immune system, lowers cholesterol, induces sleep and treats hair fall issues. Additionally, it has a nourishing effect on the skin – it is a natural moisturizer – and treats acne and sunburn. Multi-flower honey is mild in flavour, and therefore can be consumed by adults and children alike, as a natural alternative to sugars and sweeteners. It ranges in colour from light to dark brown.
One of the company’s specialties, the safflower, is produced from the plant’s flowers and not from its seeds, like saffron. The flowers are left in the sun to dry and then are crushed to be used in food (as a spice). They contain a number of active medicinal constituents and can, for example, reduce coronary heart disease and cholesterol levels.
As for chili peppers, research has identified their potential to aid with pain reduction, cancer, and type II diabetes prevention, as well as cardiovascular health. Being rich in vitamins A, B, C, potassium, copper, iron and folic acid, and poor in sodium, chili peppers consumption is good for the eyesight, hair and skin; helps to fight infections; decreases blood pressure; assists in red blood cell formation and improves cognitive functioning. Even when used in small quantities, chili peppers can lead to long-term health benefits.
Lupini beans, also called lupins, are the seeds of the "lupinus" plant that are traditionally eaten as a pickled snack food, primarily in the Mediterranean basin and Latin America. They are leguminous seeds with high protein content. Studies have revealed that lupins suppress appetite (they are full of protein, fibre, and low in oil and starch) and because of that weight loss is commonly related with eating lupins. They reduce the glycaemic load of carbohydrate based foods, are prebiotic – promoting the growth of “good” bacteria and improving large bowel health and are gluten free. Moreover, lupins are full of amino acid arginine. They help lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
The company is willing to enter new markets and currently is looking for partners to work under distribution service agreements (preferably wholesalers) in EU countries, as well as in Chile, Norway, Switzerland, Russia, Turkey and in the USA. As it intends to sell its products in the foreign market, the potential partner should also be able to market its products. Partners can be wholesale companies or a retail network. The company is already engaged in transnational cooperation.
