The client is higher education and scientific research institution founded in 1919. The client has close ties with Slovenian companies and foreign enterprises. Their partners include multinational corporations and the most successful Slovenian companies. As they are fully aware of the importance of knowledge and skills in obtaining they own financial sources, they are increasingly developing their market oriented activities every year.
In last period researchers developed the innovative training device, that can be used in physiotherapy as well as in sports. With use of the device the muscle build-up is much faster, easier on the joints and less painful than with conventional methods. Prototype of the product is available.
The ischemic trainer is a device for muscle strengthening in physiotherapy and sports. It creates a reduction in blood circulation in the muscles of the upper and lower limbs during the exercise. Ischemic training creates more muscles in a shorter period which is essential in rehabilitation period after surgeries. Muscles are strained more, while junctions suffer less.
The appliance has an inflatable cuff, which is placed on the upper part of the limb (leg, arm) and inflates with an air compressor at any pressure.
The concept of ischemic exercise, often also named blood flow restricted exercise, has been popularized as a form of muscle conditioning from the turn of millennium on. A similar type of exercise has been known befor, but has been used only experimentally for studying muscle responses to ischemia
and hypoxia. Ischemic training gained the most attention and popularity in the western world in the second half of 2010's.
This concept of training is now accepted worldwide as safe and effective method for increasing skeletal muscle strength and size in healthy people. In recent years, also its efficiency and safety in rehabilitation and physiotherapy has been increasingly studied. The results are very promising and show that it can have great benefits also in various patient populations, primarily in those with muscle atrophies and joint injuries.
With industry, the client is willing to establish a joint venture for the production of the device.
