Description: 

As part of a regional program in Tyrol, three Austrian companies are looking for start-ups from Europe and beyond. The medium sized companies are manufactures of traditional industrial products such as tools, ductile cast iron systems and motor engines. The start-ups should offer solutions to measure the material condition of industrial product components or systems and transfer the information wireless to a control system.

Potential partners should offer a solution to measure the condition of hard-to-reach or closed components and tools in extreme environmental conditions and transmit this information wireless to a receiver (control unit). The challenge is to measure physical data (temperature, pressure, etc.) of the product material (metal, iron, steal) both during production and operation. Currently, standard elements and sensors are used that provide insufficient results.

The companies are open to any type of solution (proof of concept, prototype or already on the market) from European start-ups to codevelop a product to market maturity. Solutions could range from high sophisticated sensor technologies to image analysis. Envisaged cooperation types are technical agreement or commercial agreement with technical assistance.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This technology request is part of a regional program to connect start-ups with industry and is published until the 17th of June 2019 (Deadline for EOIs). If a start-up does express interest and can offer a solution to the Austrian companies, it will be guided towards a selection process. Selected start-ups will be invited (including a financial support) to a matching day from 9th to 10th of July where they can pitch their solutions directly to the companies in Austria.

Cooperation sought: 
Potential solutions could range from novel sensor technologies to image analysis in order to measure and send data of material conditions of industrial product components and tools under extreme environmental conditions. In particular the solution should measure general physical material properties (both during production and operation), such as temperature, pressure, vibration, structure etc. Furthermore, the solution should have small dimensions and send the data wireless. A long service life would also be desirable.

The Austrian companies are looking for start-ups from Europe and beyond. Potential partners offer solutions to capture material properties of metal products (e.g. by means of sensor technologies, image analysis or any other technology) both during production process and operaton. The Austrian companies want to work with start-ups as equal partners, under shared IP conditions, in the form of a technical cooperation agreement or commercial agreement with technical assistance (depending on the Technology Readiness Level of the respective technology) to co-develop a product to market maturity.
