A UK small company has launched a product to address the post-operative phase for women receiving surgery in a much more patient-friendly way. The post-operative bra (see the Picture) has been designed specifically for the immediate post-surgery stage following any types of breast cancer, cosmetic and cardio surgeries. The product is made from a modern four way stretch fabric, seamless in design using the latest in weave and weft technology to provide support zones. It is designed to hold dressings in place for wound sites, provides comfortable stability for newly installed breast implants and will also hold a light-weight prosthesis. The product can be worn for the recommended 24 hr wear up to six weeks post-surgery. The product can also be used beyond the post-surgical phase and provides comfort for those wishing to have a ‘comfort’ or ‘sleep’ bra.
The product sells into both the national and private healthcare systems in the UK and the company (classed as the manufacturer) is now looking for international distributors. The product has been endorsed by the president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and co-branded for his own patient base. It is co-manufactured by a leading global medical textile company.
