This UK company has developed a patented silicone adhesive technology which is now used in a range of ostomy and skin protection products for wound and continence care. The unique adhesive prevents abdominal stomas from leaking and provides a range of benefits for patients and healthcare professionals alike. Already highly successful in the UK and a number of overseas markets, the company now wishes to appoint suitably experienced distributors in Finland, Italy and Canada.

This UK manufacturer, established in 2006, is a privately owned company specialising in the development and supply of life enhancing healthcare solutions for patients following ostomy surgery. It also has a division producing veterinary skin protection products.

Leakage, skin irritation, discomfort and lack of security are amongst the most common problems associated with traditional ostomy care products, which typically used hydrocolloid technology. The UK company has worked to develop a new and advanced silicone technology medical adhesive, which offers many benefits over other medical adhesive and ostomy devices including conventional silicone gels (used across wound care) which do not allow the skin to breathe.

The company’s new silicone technology based materials provide a much better seal, don’t absorb wastes (that cause irritation) and are far easier to remove, without sticking to the skin. The product range includes silicone-based seals, gels, skin barriers and adhesive removers, as well as gelling and odour control sachets.

The company’s products are supplied to clinicians specialising in ostomy, wound and continence care and direct to consumers, with around 60% of its production now sold in markets around the world.

Due to interest from customers in Finland, Italy and Canada, the UK firm wishes to appoint distributors to supply healthcare professionals and direct consumers in these countries.

Partners should be experienced in the supply of products to the wound and continence care sector and work with the UK company to develop the market for its products in their appointed territory.

Advantages & innovations

Cooperation plus value:
The UK company and its products can offer the following advantages to potential partners: • The opportunity to work with a well-established and growing company, with a strong history in developing innovative and advanced medical technologies. The company is a winner of a Queen’s Award for Innovation; • Products which are developed in close consultation with patients and clinicians, ensuring their popularity when they are introduced to the wider community; • The opportunity to add to their range products which are based on an advanced patented technology which offers various benefits to patients and clinicians alike, including: o instant secure adhesion, but soft enough to allow removal & re-positioning; o a formulation which does not break down and which holds shape and structure, helping to extend wear time; o removal in one piece, reducing surface skin damage. • Product information and back-up from the company’s sales team.
