A Spanish Biomedical Research Institute has developed a wound dressing for abdominal viscera protection in negative-pressure wound therapy that prevents adhesion to the internal organs tissues of the abdominal wall and optimizes the drainage capacity and distribution of negative pressure therapy.

Abdominal compartment syndrome is caused by intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH), leading to ischemia and organ dysfunction. When abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) occurs, it is necessary to establish a system for the management of wounds that facilitates the re-entry into the abdominal cavity and allows successive interventions.

Negative pressure therapy (TPN) mitigates intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and prevent its progression to abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS), facilitating the healing and closing of the abdominal cavity.

Here the Research Institute presents a wound dressing for abdominal viscera protection in negative-pressure wound therapy (TPN) that prevents adhesion to the internal organs tissues of the abdominal wall and optimizes the drainage capacity and distribution of negative pressure therapy.

The Institution would like to talk to companies interested in commercializing this wound dressing, a services agreement or in a research cooperation agreement to develop it.
