Austrian health tech start-up is looking for distribution partners for an innovative digital nurse assistant in Western & Northern Europe
BOAT20201119001
The Austrian start-up that develops tools for elderly care is looking for commercial agency or distribution services agreement for a multifunctional luminaire used in stationary and home care. The product helps taking care of fall-prone patients by sending a bed exit signal via app. At once, a guiding light makes patients' nocturnal ways safer. Those features relieve nursing staff and increase patients’ safety applying new technology and unique assistance features. It is a buy or rent product.
The company was founded in April 2020 and has been developing the tool since then. It is planned to launch this product in the first half of 2021. Test applications are already taking place in nursing homes prior to the product launch. The start-up works together with selected partners from science and business. The basic product concept as well as the basic range of features were developed together with an international university.

The digital nurse assistant is a multifunctional luminaire for patients. An individually adjustable orientation light makes people's nocturnal ways safer. Furthermore, the assistant forwards a bed exit signal to the nursing staff/nursing relatives by communicating via app. This function is taking the pressure off the nursing staff. Additional features such as an integrated monitoring of room air quality and temperature complete the first version of this product. For later product versions an intercom function as well as other features are planned.

The product is suitable for applications in home and stationary care. The tool reports the bed exit signal with an optical and/or audible warning to the smartphone or tablet of the relatives or the nursing staff. The measured room temperature and air quality can also be monitored via the app on smartphones or tablets. In stationary care facilities (e.g. nursing homes), the tool can be integrated into the standard house control system. The tool offers many possibilities for facilitating the care of elderly people and is constantly being enhanced. The main target group is home care, stationary care facilities (e.g. nursing homes) have a subsidiary role.

The orientation light of the module can be individually adapted to the room conditions. It directs people in need of care to the door or bathroom and back through subtle light accents, thus supporting the orientation of people with disability in the dark.

So far the company already aquired a sound network of cooperation partners in Austria (e.g. health care supply stores, sales partners, nursing home outfitters, NGOs engaging in elderly care, ...).
This digital nurse assistant takes the pressure off the nursing staff and relatives while at the same time supporting patients. This benefit for both parties is unique about the product and can only be found in the fewest comparable products. The main technologies are saved by two already registered patents. The "bed exit communication" is one of the biggest tasks in elderly care, which can lead to a sustainable relief for the nursing staff/relatives. With a new type of measurement and signal transmission, this tool is much cheaper than similar products. The product is fully developed in Austria and mainly produced in Austria. Only a few components are planned to be sourced from Eastern Europe. Therefore, the product has EU origin. The reasonable pricing makes it easily affordable for nursing homes as well as private persons in home care. Customers can buy or rent the product.
Formally, it is a lamp for the nursing sector, but there is no medical relevant relationship to the patient and/or the nursing staff. Therefore, the product is not a medical device. In the future, the range of features will be extended by further development stages.
Prototype available for demonstration
The product launch is planned for the first half of 2021. Until then several field tests in Austrian nursing homes are taking place.
