UK London based specialist umbrella maker with over 200 years of experience and working with high end designers seeks manufacturing agreement to print using textile dye sublimation on fabric roles and laser cutting of umbrella panels.
A family run umbrella maker based in London, UK designing and making for brands, retailers and local designers, working in an exciting, fast paced environment. Specialising in small bespoke orders, requiring fast turnarounds of quality printed cut umbrella panels.
The manufacturing agreement sought would be to provide high quality dye sublimation printing, to be able to handle precision templated designs and to be able to cut the umbrella panels with a precision laser cutter on fabric rolls of up to 1700mm wide.
This will move a traditional product into the 21st century. The UK company will be able to offer a service which is in demand from local designers, high end brands and retailers.
Combining two technical processes to make a beautiful desirable product enables the company to bypass the supply of woven fabric. Traditional fabric suppliers tend to be slow to react to the changing trends in colour and design. This will enable the company to make up small batches of umbrellas using locally designed fashion led prints. The designs printed on plain white proofed polyester.
This innovation would significantly improve the desirability of the umbrellas and their export potential. The company has export clients who have expressed an interest and UK customers who are wanting to export a design led product under their own brand label.
London and the UK is at the forefront of design. However, in the world of umbrellas this is only possible if the sublimation and cutting process is used to print the umbrellas and this will uniquely position the business.
In house textile dye sublimation digital printing of designs for umbrellas with laser cutting of panels using a CAD CAM laser cutting machine which can cut a printed fabric roll up to 1700mm width.
The fabric would be printed first and then laser cut on the roll afterwards. Cutting the panels first and then printing them later will not work due to placement issues on the printed design paper. The final process must leave no white borders as these then show on the underside of the umbrellas and spoil the edge of the design. The business works to a precision 9mm hem and average print run would be around 50 metres. The smallest print run would be approximately 15 metres and the largest around 300 metres. Order frequency average 2 to 3 times a month with increased quantities during busy periods.
A non disclosure agreement would need to be signed to protect the designs (intellectual property).
A Dye Sublimation textile printer who can print on proofed polyester and can also laser cut the printed panels on the fabric roll to enter into a manufacturing agreement.
