A Russian company specialized in solving scientific problems in various fields has developed a multifunctional device with biologic feedback for medical purpose (hand functions development). The company is looking for cooperation with scientific and industrial organizations for improvement of the device and development of application methodology with regard to the national context of partner’s country. The company is interested in technical cooperation and joint venture agreements.
Rehabilitation of patients that have neurological disorders is one of the most important medical and social problems because of high prevalence of neurological diseases and injuries, complexity of functional impairments and long-term loss of earning ability entailed by such disorders. One of the hardest consequences of neurological disorder is impairment of hands function, which has a big share in life limitations of such patients. Repair of hands movements after neurological diseases and injuries is a burning problem that calls for solutions at a new theoretical and technical level.
Specialists that work with children with psychic and physical impairments often have to deal with the problem of poor manual dexterity. Manual dexterity can be improved by use of biologic feedback (BF) methods. BF is a row of techniques that imply giving to a patient information about state of his physiological functions via external feedback so that he learns to manipulate this functions “consciously”.
Now at the market of modern medical equipment there is a wide row of BF devices for treatment and rehabilitation of hands: «HandTutor», «Hand of Hope», «Gloreha», «Amadeo». These devices are designed only for medical purposes and very expensive. They lack a system for considering meteorological conditions (they can significantly influence treatment and rehabilitation processes), and it is impossible to make corrections considering these conditions. They represent the game format of BF via a computer game, but long playing in computer games can lead to addiction which undermines patient’s psychological state.
The Russian company has developed a prototype that differs from all other devices by its functional capabilities. One of the distinguishing features of the device and methods of its use is that is their game format that makes easier treatment of patient with emotional disturbances and children with psychological and physiological development disorders because work with a puppet increases patients’ motivation to continue therapy. Patient’s movements are reflected by puppet’s movement. The more coordinated, precise and diverse are movements of the repaired hand, the more movements the puppet makes. When a patient watches the puppet move he feels positive emotions and gets more involved in the process of training which is especially important for rehabilitation of children and adult patients with emotional disorders. Use of puppet allows combining BF methods with art therapy, which makes therapy more attractive for patients. The system of monitoring meteorological parameters (pressure, temperature, humidity) makes it possible to consider the effect of these parameters on the patient during therapy.
The company is looking for partners among research organizations, medical and educational centers to refine the device and its testing and performance evaluation methodology. With industry, the company is willing to establish a joint venture for the production of the device.

At the present time there are two experimental sites for development of the device use methodologies. One is based on specialized kinder garden in Sarov (coordinated by the Chair of Pedagogy and Psychology for Special Needs of a state educational institution of supplementary professional education in Nizhny Novgorod). The other is based on New Technologies Laboratory of Research Institute for Children’s Hygiene and Health (Moscow).
