With over 30 specialists coming from 20 different countries, we work together to strengthen the microelectronics industry in Europe, where we specifically target the SME business community. These companies often operate in a very specific niche (e.g. photonics, nanopositioning, cryogenics, micro-robotics and -machining) and, in our experience, are often looking for cooperation partners to jointly develop a new application.
How we work
We are the most industry crossing group within the network, because (micro-) electronics, are nowadays an indispensable and essential part of all equipment, instruments, devices and machinery. In industries as diverse as mobility, computing, medical, aerospace, defence, food/agri, construction, retail etc.
Microelectronics is the specialized field within electronics that deals with the design, development, and application of miniature electronic components and circuits. It involves the fabrication of semiconductor devices, typically at the microscale or nanoscale level. Microelectronics plays a crucial role in the miniaturization of electronic systems, enabling the production of smaller, lighter, smarter and more efficient devices.
Recent developments
Geopolitical developments in recent years have made us realise that we in the West have become too dependent on countries in the Far East for the supply of critical components such as chips. Our specialists works closely together with our EC stakeholder in Brussels on for example the EU Chips Act. This initiative supports large-scale technological capacity building and innovation throughout the EU and enables the development and deployment of cutting-edge, next generation semiconductor and quantum technologies. By doing so, the EC aims to strengthen the region's semiconductor industry, increase production, and reduce reliance on global suppliers.
Our approach
Our local network partners or specialists can support you in realising your innovation goals by finding the right cooperation, business or knowledge partners for you. They can also help you find the appropriate funding if necessary. Besides that, our specialists meet each other and their clients twice a year during relevant conferences, fairs or other initiatives.
In recent years we our expert group came together and invited our clients to the following conferences, fairs and/or eco-systems:
EuroNanoForum, Valetta, Malta
Micronora, Besancon, France
May last year we visit the laser ecosystem in Lithuania, hosted by our network partner LIC (Lithuanian Innovation Centre). In December our Dutch partner BOM (Brabant Development Agency) prepared us a 3-day program to get-to-know the world famous Dutch semicon eco-sytem.
