Description
The mission is the result of the the previous mission Handwerk Suttgart organized in Milan in May 2023. As CNA Lombardy, we are bringing to Germany 10 Italian companies working in the sector of heating and plumbing and metalworking.
The mission will take place from 16th to 18th June and it will be structured on two main pillars:
- On the one hand, the Italian companies will be introduced to the Germany's dual system of vocational education and training which is highly recognized worldwide due to its combination of theory in the classroom and training in a real-life work environment.
The main characteristic of the dual system is cooperation between mainly small and medium sized companies, on the one hand, and publicly funded vocational schools, on the other. This cooperation is regulated by law. Trainees in the dual system typically spend part of each week at a vocational school and the other part at a company, or they may spend longer periods at each place before alternating. Dual training usually lasts two to three-and-a-half years.
The shared responsibility between government, employers and trade unions also helps in responding to emerging new challenges such as digital innovations like the Internet of Things which will have an increasing impact on manufacturing and the way work is organized.
The German dual system offers an excellent approach to skill development, covering initial vocational education and training, further vocational education and training, careers, employability, occupational competence and identity. Thanks to the dual system, Germany enjoys low youth unemployment and high skill levels.
Thanks to the co-operation with Handwerkskammer Region Stuttgart , the 10 Italian companies joying the mission will have the chance to visit two major training centers in the region: ETZ Stuttgart and Bildungsakademie der Handwerkskammer Region Stuttgart.
The main aim is to let Italian companies better understanding how the Germany's dual system of vocational education and training operates in order to learn some best practices to be replicated and scaled in Italy.
Upskilling and reskilling is an emergent issue companies have to face in order to stay relevant and keep being competitive in their markets.
Therefore, CNA Lombardy decided to give the launch this mission in order to enable a first buch of companies to learn best practices and better understand how Gerrman companies are comping with important issues such as upskilling and reskilling.
Another subject which will be tackled during the mission will be a sharing of best practices on energy saving and how both Italian and German companies are coping with the European regulations.
- On the other hand, a business networking will be hold on the 17th of June in order to enable Italian and German companies meet and foster possible future collaborations.
