Events to look out for

Intellectual property rights in the Pacific Alliance countries – 26 February, Luxembourg (LU). The main purpose of this seminar is to develop new business opportunities between Luxembourg and the four countries (Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru) that are members of the Pacific Alliance.

Showcase Conference on Tourism – 19 March, Brussels (BE). Meet with stakeholders, hear from successful projects and be inspired by several EU Funded initiatives in the field of Tourism.

EIF and HBOR launch new equity investment programme in Croatia for SMEs and midcaps. The European Investment Fund (EIF) and HBOR launched a EUR 70 million-investment programme to support fast-growing SMEs and mid-caps established and operating in Croatia.

EU policies for better business

New rules on safety features for prescription medicines. The new rules entered into force on 9 February and require the industry to affix a 2-D barcode and an anti-tampering device on the box of prescription medicines. From now on, pharmacies – including on-line pharmacies – and hospitals will have to check the authenticity of medicines before dispensing to patients.

Medical devices: get ready for the new regulations. To help smooth the transition to the two new Regulations on medical devices and in vitro diagnostic medical devices the European Commission created a new website. The portal presents the new regulatory requirements in various sections targeted at impacted actors (manufacturers, importers, health institutions, authorities in non-EU countries and others).
